Refreshing Your Data

Numbers look stale, or a report is showing zeroes where you expect values? A quick refresh usually clears it up. Here's how.

1

Reload the add-in

This makes sure you're running the latest version of Genius Sheets.

  • Excel on the web: hard-refresh your browser tab — Ctrl + F5 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac).
  • Excel desktop (Windows/Mac): fully close Excel and reopen your workbook.
  • Google Sheets: reload the browser tab, then reopen the add-in from Extensions > Genius Sheets.
2

Click Refresh All

Open the Genius Sheets panel and click Refresh All to re-pull every value in your workbook from your latest QuickBooks or Xero data. Use Refresh Data if you only want to update the sheet you're on.

3

Check the numbers

Your report should now match your accounting software. If a few cells still look off, reload the add-in one more time (step 1) and Refresh All again — this clears any values cached from an earlier session.

Still seeing a problem?

Confirm the right company is selected

If you connect more than one QuickBooks or Xero company, make sure the company selected in the add-in (or named in your formula's company field) is the one that owns the account. An account only returns values for the company it belongs to.

Give a recent sync a moment

Genius Sheets refreshes your underlying data on a regular cycle. If you just connected an account or posted new transactions, allow a little time for the next sync before expecting them in your reports.
